Luke Muehlhauser of the Open Philanthropy Project published an [[http://www.openphilanthropy.org/2017-report-consciousness-and-moral-patienthood|article]] on the moral status of animals. It included a rough estimate of the probability that various animals have consciousness in the morally relevant sense. I worked off the probability of consciousness from [[http://www.openphilanthropy.org/2017-report-consciousness-and-moral-patienthood#Probabilities|Section 4.2]], not the admittedly more subjective “care about” estimate. The table is highly incomplete, and so most values here are extrapolated. He does not mention octopuses, so my value there is a rough “in-between” estimate. === Links * [[http://www.openphilanthropy.org/2017-report-consciousness-and-moral-patienthood|2017 Report on Consciousness and Moral Patienthood]].
